Measles outbreak affecting people in 15 states including Texas
There have been almost 400 individual cases of measles confirmed in 15 states including Texas from January 1st to March 28th almost 20 years after the United States declared measles eliminated.
KMBC reports The Center for Disease Control says 6 outbreaks are currently happening in California New Jersey New York and Washington- all these cases are linked to travelers who visited countries such as Israel, Ukraine and the Philippines where large cases of measles are being reported.
Keep in mind that measles can be spread through the air when an infected person sneezes or coughs or comes into direct contact with another person.
The measles vaccination known as MMR is very effective and is recommended to those who are infected.
