Last Thursday, the Nolanville City Council voted in favor of a new yet controversial city smoking ordinance.

Starting the week of Thanksgiving this year, the brand new ordinance requires motels and hotels to be completely 100% smoke-free.

Some argue this will scare motel and hotel chains away from the city.

The new ordinance also prevents you from smoking in the car while children are present.

Nolanville Councilwoman Joan Hinshaw also proposed a change in the definition of second-hand smoke to cover smoothie shops and places where smoking is prohibited to be included along with restaurants under this smoking ban.

Before any citations are issued there will be a warning period for businesses to prepare for the new ordinance to take place.
