
New Info On The Rare Earthquakes Felt Across Texas
Texas was rattled last night by two separate earthquakes that occurred less than 3 hours apart within fairly close proximity to each other, but it does not appear the second was an aftershock of the first. The quakes were felt across much of Southern Texas with several people reporting from both San Antonio and Austin to have felt the rumblings.

The larger of the two earthquakes was a 4.5 on the Richter scale, and had an epicenter about 45 miles southeast of San Antonio. According to this KSAT article, the depth of the quake was about 2.3 miles deep, so it definitely passed through a lot of Texas soil.

We know with fracking in West Texas that earthquakes are becoming more regular occurrences, and to this date the largest quake ever registered in Texas is 5.8. The second quake last night was technically just after midnight this morning and only reached a 2.6, but it happened just about 20 miles north of the first, and had a depth of 5 miles.

Most of the smaller earthquakes that happen across Texas pretty much go unnoticed without high tech equipment because unless you are super close to the epicenter, people are usually too busy moving about to feel the quake as it happens. Do remember sitting in a booth at a Los Angeles restaurant once time when an earthquake happened and was so confused by it, I literally thought the person next to me on the wooden bench had just broke wind.
