Shots Anyone? 1 in 5 Texans Say They Don’t Know Their Limit
Ok, after reading the headline are you one of the five?
If you are, hey, no judgment from me! Here's a quick glimpse of one tier of my liquor shelf.
But we're not talking about me - we're talking about you, so stay focused!
A recent survey done by the website alcoholrehab.com showed that 1 out of 5 Texans are blackout drinkers.
According to the survey, close to 1 in 5 people surveyed admit they don’t actually know what their limit is when they drink alcohol. (At some point you've got to know your limit, right?)
Another 7% say they have used social media to figure out what happened on an alcohol-fueled night out.
(I check my text messages and call log first. That's where you start!)
The survey consisted of 3000 people who umm, "enjoy liquor frequently" in Texas, and it found that 20% of them consider themselves to be blackout drinkers - reportedly, higher than the national average of 13%.
What is blackout drinking?
According to the American Addiction Centers, "blackout" is when a person's Blood Alcohol Content (BAC) reaches 0.15 which results in memory loss.
In all 50 states, it's illegal for you to drive if your level is 0.08 or above, so you do the math!
Other notables from the survey include 1 in 10 people saying they think it's funny when a friend passes out drunk (I take pictures of them actually), and unfortunately, 14% of those surveyed say they have lost a friendship because of things that may have happened while drunk.
Here's some advice: Learn what your limit is, and make sure you have a safe ride home if you're going to exceed it.
