Sixth Graders Spit Positivity Raps Over Tee Grizzley’s “First Day Out”
Despite the critics who don't believe it has any positive impact, hip-hop is a powerful movement that can be used in great ways to help teach the youth. Milwaukee teacher Terrance Sims is using rap to help motivate his sixth grade students in school, and they recently spit some positive raps over Tee Grizzley's "First Day Out" hit record.
The song that the class created comes with a full music video titled "Excellence First!" featuring the two girl rappers rhyming their elite verses of inspiration surrounding school and education. The class goes around different parts of the school, including the playground and hallways, where they stand behind some large block letters that spell out "Ph. D."
The ladies rap about their academics, and motivating others to focus on their studies no matter what the next person may be doing. They even show off their high-graded test scores to prove that they are at the top of their class and on their way to achieve their goals.
This isn't the first time that Sims' students have used hip-hop or unique teaching methods to inspire his students. Earlier this year, he reportedly saw popularity online for doing a photoshoot with his fourth graders that was inspired by black history, such as the story behind the award-winning movie, Hidden Figures. Janelle Monae ended up tweeting out the photo, causing it to go viral on social media.
