Texas Senator Ted Cruz Photographed On A Flight To Cancun While We Are Suffering
UPDATE: Our partners at News 10 report that Senator Cruz has responded to the backlash caused by his flight to Cancun during the current crisis.
Cruz is quoted as having said, "With school cancelled for the week, our girls asked to take a trip with friends. Wanting to be a good dad, I flew down with them last night and am flying back this afternoon."
Whether Democrat or Republican, we should all agree on this.
Senator Ted Cruz, in my opinion, is using horrible judgment right now.
Over the past few days, almost 4 million people in the state of Texas have been without power and water, weather conditions have been unprecedented, and the Junior Senator from Texas chooses to enjoy margaritas!
I understand politicians have vacation time and you are free to take your vacation when you feel like it.
But Ted, c'mon bro.
Yesterday Senator Ted Cruz was caught boarding a flight to Cancun, Mexico.
This great state of Texas is suffering. This is NOT the time to take your shirt off, put on your speedos, and rock your sombrero, Ted.
Whether you are a mayor, senator, governor, or even the president, it's normal for you to cut your vacation short to be available to provide whatever is needed for the area in which you govern - in this case, the state you represent in the U.S. Senate. Some of you reading this may say "maybe he had it planned before this all happened" and if you are saying that, pay attention! Looks like dodging to me. Meanwhile, Cruz is being blasted on Twitter as #TedFled continues to trend, and there's even a website called FledCruz.com.
This is the second time this week Cruz has been blasted on Twitter. He even responded to people pointing out his mocking California in 2019 for its mishandling of the state's power grid, saying, "I got no defense."
He won't be up for re-election for another 3 years, but Texas voters should remember this.
