Temple police are investigating an attempted burglary that resulted in two people being shot.

Temple Police Department Media Relations Specialists Cody Weems wrote in a news release that police responded to a call from the 2200 block of South 47th Street around 5:30 AM Friday. Upon arrival, they found two injured men. They were transported to Baylor Scott & White Medical Center in stable condition.

A preliminary investigation indicates that shots were fired inside a home during an attempted burglary. Police later found illegal controlled substances inside are working to determine if they were a contributing factor. Police did not say what the substances were.

According to Weems, police do not believe this case is related to other recent shooting cases in Temple.

Police are currently searching for three suspects described as African American males. No further details were available late Friday morning.
