Two people were displaced by a fire that severely damaged a home in Temple Thursday afternoon.

Temple fire crews were dispatched to the 3600 block of Chisholm Trail shortly before 4:30 PM. Flames and smoke were issuing from the rear of the home whey they arrived, and it took firefighters almost half an hour to bring the blaze under control.

Fortunately, no one was home when the fire occurred. Two people who lived there are being assisted by the Red Cross. The house was rendered untenantable by smoke and fire damage.

Investigators say the fire began in the back of the home, but could not determine the cause.
