Multiple sources including The Houston Chronicle report that the University of Texas will name Chris Ash as their next defensive coordinator.

Ash was fired as Rutgers head coach earlier in the year after a 1-3 start. In his three-plus seasons, he led the Scarlet Knights to an 8-32 record.  The much nicer part of his resume is he position as Ohio State's defensive coordinator the two years prior to being hired at Rutgers.

Texas head coach Tom Herman coached alongside Ash in 2014 for the Buckeyes and brought him along as an analyst since his firing.

This comes as no surprise to many it has been widely suspected that Ash was Herman's primary target since the firing of Todd Orlando. You know since Herman took "full responsibility" for their sub-par season and then preceded to fire everyone else.

Texas has plenty of talent every year on both sides of the ball, will Ash do a better job at utilizing it? Time will tell.
