Travel from Dallas to Houston in 90 minutes?

Don't know if you've ever seen those high-speed rail trains that can travel at speeds of 200 mph or more, making commutes to....well wherever, relatively quick.

Well, those same high-speed rail trains are coming to Texas, in a historic groundbreaking move.

According to WFAA, Texas Central Railroad received approval from the Federal Railroad Administration Monday for the first high-speed rail system in the United States.

The approval included the go-ahead to create safety requirements and regulations plus environmental approval to form an "alignment or path" from Dallas to Houston.

Reportedly, they have more hurdles to overcome, before this can become a reality, having just 40% of the land needed for the project, as they await approval from the U.S. Surface Transportation Board.

They also meet opposition from landowners including one, who owns property that has a 140-year-old farm that would be demolished should the project become successful.

In addition, they still have to obtain commitments from banks in The U.S., Japan, and Europe.

Texas Central Railroad remains optimistic that all will turn out well, as they have set a date for the beginning of construction for early 2021.

We'll see what happens, but it's good to see it's in motion.

It's kind of a waste for us anyway right?

Think about it, it's a 3-hour drive to Houston.

It's a 2-hour drive to Dallas, to connect to a train to get to Houston that doesn't get there for another 90 minutes.

The time it takes to get to Houston, and you have done all of that you might as well make the drive LOL...
