A violent crash in Freestone County took the lives of two college football players early Monday morning. According to our news partner KWTX, the crash happened on a rural road north of Fairfield, Texas. Tuesday, the names of the two young men who lost their lives were released to the public.

19-year-old Tyler Spillman of Spring and 19-year-old Bryce Cook of Houston played football at Trinity Valley Community College in Athens, Texas. The pair were eulogized on the college's Facebook page Monday evening.

The post read,"We are saddened by the news that Cardinal football players Bryce Cook and Tyler Spillman have passed away. Their leadership on our football team and overall presence on our campus will be sorely missed. Our thoughts and prayers are with Bryce’s and Tyler’s families, friends and teammates during this difficult time."

The accident occurred when Cook and Spillman were headed northbound on FM 488, and their car crossed into the southbound side of FM 488 with a tanker coming from the opposite direction. Department of Public Safety Sargent W.L Wilson said the car and the tanker both burst into flames upon collision.

Cook and Spillman were pronounced dead at the scene, and the 56 year old man from Fort Worth driving the tanker was sent to Navarro County Medical Center in Corsicana with minor injuries. Cook and Spillman's remains were sent for autopsy.
