I would not have believed this story happened in Temple, Texas if I didn’t see the video of this crazy event for myself. I’ve heard of making sure that you got everything for Easter dinner, but this is absolutely ridiculous.

Over the Easter weekend, two young ladies were allegedly able to steal over $2,000 worth of meat from the H-E-B on South 31st. You may have seen the video circulating on social media over the weekend, and now police have taken an interest.

Let's Break This Down

Ladies and gentlemen, we're not just talking a steak here and a bag of chicken there.

We're talking slabs of ribs, dinosaur-sized brisket, and plenty of ground beef.
These alleged thieves have enough meat to start their own barbecue restaurant.

Here's What Temple Police Have To Say

According to a news release from Temple PD, officers were dispatched to the 3000 block of South 31st around 3:34 PM on April 15 after receiving a report of a theft in progress.

By the time officers made it to H-E-B, two women accused of stealing over $2,000 worth of meat had already left. An employee had confronted the alleged thieves and even tried to pull the cart away, but the adamant food thief still was able to load the car up with the ill-gotten meat.

Collateral Damage

That's bad enough, but police say that In the process of committing the crime, the suspects allowed a shopping cart to run into another car in the parking lot, which was damaged.

Yes, This Happened in Temple

When I first saw this video, it was posted in a private Facebook group about Killeen. I did a double take when I realized this incident happened in Temple.

Foolishness

This whole situation is just absolutely bonkers! I don’t care how you put it, this makes no sense. You allegedly stole over $2,000 worth of meat , and if you are found guilty of this you’re going to have to explain this to a judge. I never want to go to jail, but I definitely don’t want to go to jail on felony charges because I stole a rack of ribs.

Watching this video, it’s just so hilarious and shocking all at once.

Thanks for Listening!

Here's something that made me chuckle, though. The person recording the video is listening to The Trey Show on our sister station, B106.

Follow-Up Video

Things have only gotten juicier since police issued their statement about this incident Monday morning.

A man named Chris Rance posted a video to Facebook Monday afternoon in which he appears to have tracked down the car involved in the incident. What do you think?

Was It Worth It?

This was definitely a circus this weekend. To the alleged thieves, I can only hope it was absolutely worth it. Your beef is now with Temple PD instead of on the grill where it belongs.
