ESPN is predicting that the KC Chiefs will repeat as Super Bowl Champs. I'm calling B.S. right now.

ESPN ran 20 thousand simulation games and say KC will repeat, the Cowboys will finish 5th with 9.3 wins, and my beloved Broncos finish 17 with 7.4 wins. Really?

ESPN fired up their “Football Power Index” model to see what the upcoming season might have in store. After 20K simulations, here’s what they came up with:

  • The FPI shows the Kansas City Chiefs with score more than “a touchdown better than the average NFL team.” For that reason, they’re showing the Chiefs as the favorite to win the Super Bowl and are giving them a 21% shot at making it happen.
  • On the other side of the coin, they’ve got the Jacksonville Jaguars as the cellar dwellers. The FPI model projection shows the Jags winning less than five games this season. They also picked Washington, Cincinnati, Carolina & Detroit to be right there in the hunt for the number one draft pick in 2021.

And if you're wondering how the Tom Brady-led Tampa Bay Bucs will fare or where the New England Pats will finish, they are ranked eighth and ninth respectively at season’s end by the model. Again, I'm calling B.S. on this.
