A Houston woman who was saved from Hurricane Harvey flood waters by a neighbor was recently reunited with the man who rescued her.

KOSA-TV spoke with Evelyn Hawkins, who said she was stranded beyond the reach of her family. As the waters continued to rise, her neighbor, Javier Rivera, rushed to her aid and escorted her five blocks in neck-high water to safety.

Rivera, who doesn't speak English, told CCN, "Everyone is family. It doesn't matter what race you are."

We couldn't agree more.
