Pancreatic Cancer Diagnosis May Mean the End of Alex Trebek’s Time As Host of Jeopardy
This is sad news for me growing up as a fan watching "Jeopardy".
Alex Trebek, who has hosted a record-setting over 8,000 shows for Jeopardy over a span of 35 years, says he's not afraid to die in a new interview.
Trebek, who was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer earlier this year, told CTV Friday that he has "lived a long full life and is not afraid to die and knows the end is near."
He announced earlier this year that he has the disease that has a 9% survival rate, and in May announced he was in remission.
But after losing weight (12 pounds in one week) about 3 weeks ago, doctors suggested he undergo chemotherapy again.
In the interview, he also mentioned that he would continue to host Jeopardy until his skills diminished.
He says they are now diminishing.
Trebek says the sores in his mouth from chemotherapy cause him to slur his words, making it difficult to enunciate.
Although no official announcement has been made about him quitting the show, expect an announcement on the status soon.
