Houston, Texas has a very serious drama playing out in their local courts, and a family that is heavily invested in seeing justice for the death of their nine year old loved one's murder fear that investment will be ignored.

The whole situation really does pose several questions on how an innocent nine year old Arlene Alvarez could be shot and killed, and the known shooter still has a path to not being held accountable.
How was Arlene Alvarez shot and killed in the Houston area?

According to this KHOU article, Tony Earls was previously charged for aggravated assault, but a Harris County Grand Jury declined to indict. That is when the Alvarez family hired an investigator to look further into the shooting, and a new murder charge was brought against Earls.

Over the course of the last almost three years, a special prosecutor was assigned to this case, and now the Alvarez family worries the prosecution might be taken from them.
