
Record Blizzard Now Leaves Texas Crippled As Temps Plummet
Houston, Texas just experienced their first ever blizzard warning, and now the temperatures have begun to plummet following record snowfall that has shut down just about every major road in varying lengths to entire airports.

Lack of visibility is the biggest hindrance to travel during a blizzard, and then you combine that with lack of traction while driving on roads that have received near minimum servicing. Southern cities like most of ours in Texas have limited resources, and pretty much zero snow plows to get roads cleared.
How long will the closed roads take to reopen in Texas?
Sadly, in Texas, whenever winter precipitation hits, everything turns into the waiting game for the sunshine to return. Not only did most of the affected area remain under nearly complete cloud cover, the temperatures did not really rebound enough to make much progress.
Not only that, but what was able to melt, is just refreezing in the overnight hours, and that is keeping roads closed, and black ice a major concern.

The Houston area still has to survive two more nights of below freezing temperatures, but any of the final bits of winter weather hanging on will be long gone before the end of the weekend as average highs in the 60s are expected to return.
