A representative for the state of Texas was caught on camera dropping an envelope containing cocaine at the Austin-Bergstrom International Airport.

The Texas Tribune reports that, Poncho Nevárez, a representative for the state of Texas, is facing felony drug possession charges.

Nevárez was leaving the Austin Airport when he was caught on video surveillance dropping an envelope that contained 4 small bags that tested positive for cocaine.

On September 6, two Texas Department of Transportation employees found the envelope with Nevárez’s official House seal. The transportation employees passed the envelope on to DPS who tested and weighed the contents of the envelope. Tests proved the substance to be cocaine, weighing in at approximately 2 grams.

Poncho Nevárez, serves on the Texas House's Homeland Security and Public Safety Committee, and is also an attorney in Eagle Pass. Last week Nevárez deactivated his office Facebook page, and later announced that he would not attempt to be re-elected in 2020.

Honestly, what I don't understand is how he threw everything away for 2 grams of cocaine. It comes as no surprise though that a "top official" is involved in drug trafficking. Disappointing? Yes. Surprising? No.
